Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rawat


Prof (Dr.) Anita Rawat working as Director, Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC), Department of Information and Science Technology, Govt. of Uttarakhand is associated with Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Uttarakhand.

She obtained her higher education at Panjab University, Chandigarh and later at HNB, Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand. She has been meritorious student throughout and medalist in the University. Prof. Anita has been teaching zoology and its allied subjects at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level for 27 years and has been actively engaged in Research from the last almost 25 years in the field of Aquatic Biodiversity, Environmental Management and Environmental Biotechnology.

Prof. Rawat has published more than 35 research papers in peer reviewed National and International Journals of repute and has supervised a number of students for their Ph.D. degrees. She is working as member to various R&D Committees. She has contributed chapters and articles for many books and magazines, co-authored/edited books on Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences. She had contributed for different R&D Schemes and carried out a research project in DNA Bar-coding.

Prof. Anita is associated with many scientific organization and is life member to different Scientific bodies and Associations. She has worked as environmental consultant to European Union and World Bank projects. She has been conferred with prestigious WS -Atkins award of EU in 1997 and has been awarded Women leadership awards, Academic Excellence and women achievers award.

Prof. Anita Rawat has been member of State Higher Education Council of the Uttarakhand, observer in State PNDT committee, under Uttarakhand Health and Family Welfare department. She has the honor of being the first women Registrar of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University of Uttarakhand State.

She has worked as a Coordinator of world Bank-funded (TEQIP-III) project under MHRD, and successfully organized more than 35 academic activities including workshops on Gender Equity, Human Resource Development and Entrepreneurship Developments, OBE etc.

She has also worked as Controller of Examination of Uttarakhand Technical Universityand is remembered for examination reforms and session regulation.

She has been the Pioneer to initiate “मुख्यमंत्री सेवा योजना – My Social Responsibility” in Uttarakhand. She has been the member of Board of Governors of various Technical Institutions in the State/Country.

Dr. Om Prakash Nautiyal

Scientist &  Administrative / Finance officer 

Dr. Om Prakash Nautiyal received the Ph.D. degree in Physics from H.N.B. Garhwal Central University Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India. An M.Sc in Physics and M.Sc. in Information Technology (IT), Dr. Nautiyal has also acquired Master degree in Business Administration (MBA). He has been meritorious student throughout.  He has been a faculty member for around ten years in various capacities and has more than twelve years experience as ‘Scientist’ in Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC), Department of Information Technology, Good Governance and Science Technology, Govt. of Uttarakhand. Given his approach to leveraging science and technology, he has always been involved in developing scientific & technological solutions and innovations, which are beneficial to the society at large and particularly to the last-mile learners in difficult geographies like Uttarakhand  in India. Dr. Om Prakash is in editorial broad of international and national journals of repute. He is a regular reviewer for several national and international journals. He has been a member of the organizing committee of a number of international and national conferences, seminars and workshops. He is working as Principal Investigator and Coordinator of some external funded projects funded by Govt. of India, BRNS, DAE; DST and MoES etc.

He has filed & published couple of patents in pre-publication patent journal, more than 50 research publications in national & international reputed journals/ books and authored/edited more than 10 books.


Dr. Manju Sundriyal


Dr. Manju Sundriyal is a scientist in Uttrakhnad Science Education and Research Centre (USERC) and specializes in Ethnobotany and Rural livelihoods. She has extensively worked on wild edible plants and bamboos in the eastern and western Himalayan region. She has conferred Young Scientist and Women Scientist Scholarships by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and is also recipient of a prestigious Senior Research Associateship (Pool Scientist) of CSIR, Govt. of India. Besides she has been honored with the “Young Scientist Award” in Botany by the Uttarakhnad Council of Science and Technology during IInd Science Congress in 2007. She has presented paer in many international conferences and meetings for sharing her research findings. To her credit she has authored/edited 5 books and many research papers published in national and international journals. She is also working on some external funded projects financially supported by DST and NMHS, MOEF etc. At present she is focusing on projects on rural livelihoods, empowerment of rural communities particularly rural women through training and capacity building. Her goal is to promote local resource based sustainable livelihood development for the Himalayan communities.

Dr. Bhavtosh Sharma


Dr. Bhavtosh Sharma holds a D.Phil. Degree in Chemistry from H.N.B. Garhwal University (Central University) Srinagar, Garhwal (Uttarakhand). He has completed his D.Phil. on “Recemization Studies of Antifungal Enantiomers with Benzylic Proton at Physiological pH”. Besides this, he has also completed his M.Sc. in Geo-informatics from Uttarakhand Open University.

Dr. Sharma has more than 16 years of Research & Development experience and has published more than 55 papers, Book chapters, General articles, Review articles etc in National & International Journals/Books like Current Science, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, Science Direct etc. He has edited 05 books on:

  • Water: Science & Technology (2023)
  • Water: Management & Governance (2023)
  • Recent Advances in Soil & Water Education and Research (2022)
  • Water Resources: Management & Treatment Technologies (2016)
  • Energy Resources: Development, Harvesting and Management (2016)

He has prepared a Training Manual on “Water Conservation, Water Quality & Health Hygiene“ for Villagers & Students in Hindi language. He is also writing the scientific article in Hindi Language for different Magazines.

Previously, Dr. Sharma has worked on different Research and Development Projects in various capacities funded by Department of Science Technology (DST, New Delhi, Govt. of India) and Uttarakhand Council for Science & Technology during 2006 to 2011. He has completed National Council for Science, Technology & Communication (NCSTC, DST Govt. of India) externally funded projects as Principal Investigator and Coordinator of the projects. He is also worked as Principal Investigator in GBPIHED (Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India) funded project “Education on Water Conservation, Water Quality & Health Hygiene”.

He possesses the expertise on Drug Analysis in Environmental and Biological Samples, Water Quality Analysis (Physico-Chemical & Biological Analysis), Analytical Chemistry Instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, SPE, AAS, FT-IR, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer etc.), Geo-informatics etc. Currently, he is focusing on “Water Education and Environment Science Programs” as trainer for the students and community people as well as conducting scientific studies of Water Resources in Jalshala (Water Quality Analysis Laboratory) of USERC


Dr. Rajender Singh Rana


Dr Rajender Singh Rana has completed his Ph. D. in Chemistry according to UGC Regulation act 2009 from H.N.B Garhwal University, Srinagar (A Central University) in 2015. He has Joined USERC on 06 August 2016 as scientist. He has More than 09 years of research experience. He has M.Sc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from HNBGU Srinagar in 2008 and M.Sc in Organic Chemistry from Uttarakhand Open University in 2009. His research was based on water quality assessment and treatment of pharmaceutical industrial wastewater. He has worked on DST sponsored project during 2012 to 2014. He also worked as chemist in state level water quality laboratory of Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan. In USERC he is working on various programs mainly Water Quality Assessment of Natural Water Resources of Uttarakhand, Smart Eco Club, Uttarakhand Gyan Vigyan Abhiyan and Uttarakhand School of Mathematics etc. He has published four research papers in international journals like Springer and Taylor & Francis etc.
